Anderson-Reed Opens 30,000 Megawatt Nuclear Power Plant in Las Vegas
Mon, Feb 8, 1999
This morning, Anderson-Reed founder Michael Anderson took to the stage at the unveiling ceremony of the Las Vegas Nuclear Station, which had been in construction since 1993. Anderson said "The building that stands behind me is a monument -- a monument to the dedication and persistence of the people at Anderson-Reed. To build a thirty thousand megawatt nuclear reactor is no easy task, but by God we have done it." Anderson christened the reactor by breaking a bottle of champagne on Cooling Tower 1.
The 33,000 Megawatt nuclear reactor will power hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in the Las Vegas and Nevada areas, as well as provide power for private U.S. government use.
Electrical energy prices in Nevada are projected to drop 19 percent -- two percent more than the amount Los Angeles' electricity prices dropped in 1994. Providing cheaper, safer power infrastructure in areas subject to power monopolization is one of Anderson-Reed's main goals.
