Explosion at Las Vegas Nuclear Station

Thu, Dec 19, 2002

We are saddened to report than an unfortunate incident occured at Las Vegas Nuclear Station this morning of December 19th. Due to a cooling pipe reaching an abnormally high temperature, a nearby diesel stockpile caught fire and caused an explosion. Only a quarter of our on-hand diesel supplies were lost, and operations were able to continue without interruption. However, we regret to inform you that four of our valued employees were injured in the explosion.

Our teams are currently working around the clock to replace the malfunctioning cooling pipe and ensure that our Las Vegas plant can continue to provide safe and reliable power to the local community. We take this incident very seriously, and we have already begun an investigation to find the cause of the pipe's abnormal temperature.

We appreciate your understanding and support during this time. We will keep you updated as to any developments.
