Anchorage Plant Opens Its Doors
Tue, Nov 8, 2005
The 18,000 Megawatt nuclear reactor that Anderson-Reed has spent the last 7 years constructing in the Alaskan mountains started producing power today.
Steven Reed delivered a speech at the cord-cutting ceremony. "We have outdone ourselves. We at Anderson-Reed have created something that has pushed the boundaries of modern engineering and because of that, we have landed here -- the future."
The massive fission reactor was no easy feat to build, requiring entirely new construction methods to create a megareactor in the Alaskan mountains. It will provide clean, safe, and reliable electricity to residents of Anchorage, Southern Alaska, and parts of Canada.
